Global Payments, the US based third party payment processor, just confirmed that hackers managed to escape with up to 1.5 million of their customers credit card numbers.  This is positive news considering initial estimates were as high as 10 million, and the firm has already announced that they will be able to absorb any and all costs associated with the breach.  It is still possible however, that enough data was stolen to produce new, counterfeit cards but Global Payments is still investigating this possibility.  All customer data such as addresses, social security numbers, and names remain protected though.
