Everyone knows the airline business can be enormously profitable when it’s not bankrupting the company.  Airline stocks are challenging for investors but traders can do well.  Note the CFO of DAL bought 50,000 shares  on 8-6-12 at $9.34.  A director followed up with 25,000 shares at $8.72.

 

Delta Air Lines Inc. DAL +3.17% on Tuesday boosted the bottom end of guidance for third-quarter operating profits as its new refinery helped lower fuel costs, while bookings in the current quarter were described as solid.The second-largest U.S. carrier by traffic expects to report an operating margin of 10% to 11% in the three months to Sept. 30—traditionally the strongest of the year—compared with its prior guidance for a rise of 9% to 11%.
